The U.S. Senate has confirmed Gail Slater as the Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division. Slater previously served on the National Economic Council during the Trump Administration, among other roles in government service.
Matt Schruers, President and CEO of the Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA), expressed his views on this appointment. "As the U.S. seeks to strengthen its economy and compete with foreign rivals, it will be important for antitrust enforcement efforts to focus on areas of anti-competitive harm and not instead target digital services based on their consumer successes," Schruers stated. He emphasized that a robust technology sector is crucial for global competition and expressed anticipation in collaborating with AAG Slater to promote competition aligned with existing antitrust laws.
