Eight individuals alleged to be members and associates of the GoodFellas gang have been indicted on federal charges, including attempted murder in aid of racketeering and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The indictment was returned by a federal grand jury in the Northern District of Georgia on March 4, 2025, and unsealed on March 13, 2025.
Acting U.S. Attorney Richard S. Moultrie, Jr. stated, "This indictment reflects the collective determination of our Office and law enforcement partners to confront the deadly cycle of gang violence perpetrated by criminal organizations like GoodFellas whose violence and disregard for public safety threaten the security of our communities." He emphasized that although the offenses occurred several years ago, these charges demonstrate ongoing efforts to seek justice for victims and their families.
FBI Atlanta Special Agent in Charge Paul Brown remarked, "These are not victimless crimes. Communities are hurting and will continue to be impacted as long as violent gangs engage in bloody street wars." He assured that the FBI would persist in collaborating with local, state, and federal partners to dismantle violent criminal organizations.
Special Agent in Charge Benjamin Gibbons highlighted the importance of law enforcement collaboration: "This case shows the importance of law enforcement collaboration successfully targeting violent gang members."
The GoodFellas gang is based in Atlanta and recruits primarily from local neighborhoods as well as jails and prisons across Georgia. Their activities reportedly include drug trafficking, robbery, carjacking, fraud, and firearms trafficking. Violence is used to protect their operations.
Among other allegations detailed in the indictment: On January 17, 2021, Frank Hubbert and Ahday Nelson-George allegedly confronted three individuals filming a music video at an Atlanta apartment complex; they demanded vehicle keys at gunpoint leading to gunfire exchange. On February 2, 2021, Darian Sheppard along with others allegedly fired dozens of rounds at an Atlanta gas station injuring a patron while targeting another gang's members. Further incidents involved firing approximately 50 rounds at a woman on February 10 resulting in severe injuries to her and two bystanders including a child.
The defendants face various charges: Frank Hubbert is charged with multiple counts including attempted murder; Montavis Jones faces similar charges; Darian Sheppard has four counts each for attempted murder; De’Andre Jackson also faces multiple counts; Ephram Marshall is similarly charged; Tahj Rankine faces fewer counts but still serious charges; Leonunte Carson faces attempted murder charge among others; Ahday Nelson-George faces aggravated assault charges among others.
It should be noted that these indictments only contain charges—defendants remain presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt during trial proceedings.
