Erik Jeovany Garcia Brizuela, a Mexican national residing illegally in the United States, has been sentenced to over 30 years in federal prison. This sentence is for his involvement in a drug-trafficking conspiracy involving approximately 92.4 pounds of methamphetamine. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Chad E. Meacham.

On March 11, 2025, United States District Judge Jane J. Boyle sentenced Garcia Brizuela, aged 35, to 365 months’ imprisonment. Court documents reveal that in December 2023, Garcia Brizuela pled guilty to conspiring to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine during 2021. During this time, he sold methamphetamine to a confidential human source and engaged Melissa Enit Alvarado as a translator for negotiations and logistics with buyers.

At the sentencing hearing, an FBI Special Agent testified about Garcia Brizuela's role in converting liquid methamphetamine into crystal form for suppliers from Mexico. Testimony indicated that after ceasing production activities, he sold methamphetamine at prices ranging from $3,200 to $7,000 per kilogram and once received up to 40 kilograms of the substance. The total value of methamphetamine linked to him ranged from $134,000 to $296,100 wholesale. Additionally, testimony disclosed his involvement in heroin sales priced at $14,000 per kilogram with Alvarado’s translation support.

Melissa Enit Alvarado had previously pled guilty in September 2022 for conspiracy related charges involving more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and received a sentence of 46 months on June 23, 2023.

FBI Dallas Special Agent R. Joseph Rothrock stated: “Multiple law enforcement agencies worked together to hold the defendant accountable for his leadership role in an organization that distributed a large amount of methamphetamine.” He further noted the impact drugs have on communities through crime and addiction and expressed gratitude for collaborative efforts disrupting such organizations.

Acting U.S. Attorney Chad E. Meacham commended all participating law enforcement agencies including the FBI Dallas Division and others like the DEA Dallas Field Division and various police departments within Texas alongside members of the North Texas Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Strike Force.

This case forms part of an OCDETF investigation aimed at dismantling high-level drug traffickers and transnational criminal organizations through coordinated efforts among federal, state, and local law enforcement entities.
