A Swanzey resident has admitted guilt in a federal court for the theft of firearms from a licensed gun shop in Winchester. Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack announced that Khale Guillou, 19, pleaded guilty to stealing 18 firearms from Trader John’s Gun Shop.
Guillou was charged with one count of theft of firearms from a federal firearms licensee. Judge Samantha D. Elliott has set his sentencing for June 24, 2025.
Court documents and statements reveal that on July 6, 2024, Guillou broke into Trader John’s Gun Shop and took the firearms. Authorities later retrieved four guns from his vehicle on July 15, 2024, and found two more at his residence on July 20, 2024.
The charge carries a potential sentence of up to ten years in prison and a fine reaching $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss from the crime. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge according to U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives led the investigation with support from police departments in Keene, Swanzey, Winchester, and Tewksbury. Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Krasinski is handling the prosecution.
