U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Peace Bridge border crossing in Buffalo, New York, have arrested a 34-year-old Florida resident for unlawful possession of a firearm. The incident occurred on March 11 when the individual, operating as a local delivery driver, inadvertently approached the Canadian border and was denied entry before returning to the United States.

Upon his return, the man declared he had a firearm in his possession. During a secondary examination by CBP officers, an Amadeo Rossi .38 caliber pistol with five rounds of ammunition was discovered. It was revealed that due to a prior felony conviction, the man was prohibited from possessing firearms.

Buffalo Port Director Gaetano Cordone commented on the situation stating, "Our CBP officers demonstrate their resolve to uphold our priority border security mission every day." He added that this incident underscores their commitment to collaborating with law enforcement partners to ensure community safety.

Following his arrest and processing by CBP officers, both the man and the firearm were handed over to the Buffalo Police Department. The individual now faces charges for criminal possession of a weapon.
