An investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has resulted in the sentencing of Tomas Juarez-Santos, a 45-year-old Mexican national, to over a year in federal prison for illegal reentry into the United States. Juarez-Santos, who had been deported four times previously, was convicted twice before for illegal reentry after deportation.

In December 2024, Juarez-Santos pleaded guilty to the charges against him. His arrest occurred on September 3, 2024, in Collier County on state criminal charges. It was during this arrest that authorities discovered he was in the U.S. without legal authorization.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick L. Darcey.
