Kevin Kaedi, a 27-year-old from Florida, was sentenced to five years in federal prison for the malicious use of explosive materials. Acting United States Attorney Matthew R. Molsen announced the sentencing on March 14, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska. Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. handed down the sentence. Following his imprisonment, Kaedi will serve a three-year term of supervised release.

The incident occurred on March 31, 2024, when a semi-truck owned by Prime Inc., a trucking company based in Missouri, was set on fire at Eppley Airfield in Omaha. Prior to the arson, Kaedi had disconnected his truck's tracking device on March 25 to conceal its movements from his employer and parked it at Eppley Airfield's south cell phone lot.

Surveillance footage captured Kaedi entering the terminal to rent a vehicle before returning to unload items from the semi-truck into the rental car and driving away. Shortly after his departure, smoke emerged from the semi-truck. Firefighters responded promptly and extinguished the blaze.

Investigators discovered a red plastic gas container and an incendiary device inside the truck's cab, confirming that the fire was deliberate. The total loss amounted to $59,353.63; restitution which Kaedi is required to pay.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with Omaha's Fire Investigation Unit conducted this investigation.
