Honduran national indicted for illegal re-entry into United States

Edgardo Amador-Rodriguez, a 27-year-old native of Honduras, has been indicted for re-entry of a removed alien. The indictment was announced on March 13, 2025, by Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson in New Orleans, Louisiana.

According to the indictment, Amador-Rodriguez was found in the Eastern District of Louisiana on or about March 7, 2025. He had previously been deported from the United States on June 8, 2018.

If convicted, Amador-Rodriguez faces up to two years imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000. Additionally, he could receive up to one year of supervised release and must pay a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson emphasized that an indictment is merely a charge and that guilt must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Simpson commended the investigative efforts of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency along with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Carter K.D. Guice Jr., from the General Crimes Unit, is leading the prosecution.

This case falls under Operation Take Back America—a nationwide initiative aiming to address illegal immigration and combat cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators.
