U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry have apprehended a man wanted in Waco, Texas, on an outstanding felony warrant for indecency with a child, sexual contact. The arrest took place on March 17 at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge.
Port Director Albert Flores of the Laredo Port of Entry commented on the case, stating, “Felony sexual offenses involving children are among the most heinous of the crimes that we encounter and apprehension of persons wanted in connection with an alleged offense of this horrendous caliber validates and exemplifies the critical role CBP officers play in the pursuit of justice and keeping our border communities safe.”
The individual arrested was identified as Ernesto Francis Marin, 44, a U.S. citizen. During a secondary inspection process that included biometric verification and checks against federal law enforcement databases, CBP officers confirmed Marin's identity and discovered he was subject to an active felony warrant issued by the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office in Waco, Texas. Following confirmation of the warrant, Marin was transported to Webb County jail for further legal proceedings.
It is important to note that criminal charges are allegations at this stage. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
