U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry in Texas intercepted over $264,000 worth of cocaine in a recent operation. The seizure took place on Sunday, March 16, at the Eagle Pass International Bridge when officers conducted a secondary inspection of a 2015 Chevy Equinox driven by a 24-year-old Mexican citizen.

Port Director Pete Beattie emphasized the importance of such actions: “Our frontline CBP officers maintained strict vigilance and intercepted a small but significant load of cocaine this weekend.” He added that these seizures highlight CBP's commitment to border security while facilitating lawful trade and travel.

The discovery was made during a secondary examination involving CBP canine units and nonintrusive inspection systems. Officers found eight packages containing approximately 19.79 pounds of cocaine concealed within the vehicle. The street value of the narcotics is estimated at $264,335.

Following the discovery, CBP seized both the narcotics and the vehicle. Homeland Security Investigations special agents arrested the driver and have begun a criminal investigation into the incident.
