Antonio Johnson, a 33-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., received a prison sentence of 204 months on March 18, 2025. This decision follows his involvement in the shooting death of Marcellus Jackson in Northeast Washington D.C., as reported by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr. and Chief Pamela Smith from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Johnson had entered a guilty plea to one count of voluntary manslaughter while armed in December 2024 at the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.

The incident occurred on June 20, 2024, when Johnson and Jackson were engaged in a verbal altercation outside an apartment building located at 4400 Hunt Place, Northeast. During this confrontation, Johnson brandished a loaded firearm at Jackson, issued a warning to stop provoking him, and subsequently discharged the weapon. After committing the act, Johnson fled from the scene.

Authorities apprehended Johnson on June 20, 2024, and he has remained in custody since that time.

U.S. Attorney Martin and Chief Smith expressed their appreciation for the investigative efforts conducted by members of the Metropolitan Police Department. They also recognized contributions from personnel within the U.S. Attorney’s Office such as Paralegal Specialist Grazy Rivera and Victim/Witness Advocate Christie Bloodworth.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Ganjei was acknowledged for his role in investigating and prosecuting this case.
