U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer recently met with the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Jonathan Reynolds, as well as Varun Chandra, the Prime Minister’s Special Adviser on Business and Investment. The meeting focused on exploring a potential bilateral trade agreement between the two nations.
This discussion follows a prior meeting between President Trump and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer last month. Secretary Lutnick emphasized the Trump Administration's perspective that any future trade agreement should aim to reduce barriers for American companies while simultaneously fostering job creation in both countries. Additionally, such an agreement would support the expansion of critical economic sectors.
The progression towards developing this trade deal is expected to continue over the coming days and weeks.
