A Biddeford resident has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for cocaine possession with intent to distribute. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen in Portland, Maine. Following his prison term, Gage Barton, 26, will be subject to three years of supervised release.
Barton entered a guilty plea on December 10, 2024. The case dates back to September 2024 when a Biddeford police officer responded to a reported fight at an apartment building. Upon arrival, the officer encountered Barton walking away from the scene.
At that time, Barton was on probation for unlawful cocaine possession and under bail conditions set by the State of Maine District Court in York County. A search conducted under these bail conditions revealed Barton carrying a sling bag beneath his coat. Inside the bag, the officer found a small digital scale and several clear plastic bags containing approximately 308 grams of cocaine.
The investigation was carried out by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), with assistance from the Biddeford Police Department.
