A Birmingham resident has been sentenced to over five years in prison for carjacking offenses. U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Nashville Field Division Acting Special Agent in Charge Jason Stankiewicz announced the sentencing.
U.S. District Court Judge Anna Manasco sentenced Christon John Wayman, 21, to 68 months of imprisonment. Wayman had pleaded guilty in November 2024 to two counts of carjacking.
The plea agreement revealed that Wayman carried out carjackings at two separate locations in Birmingham during September and October 2023. He targeted his victims through a dating application and used a firearm in at least one incident.
The case was investigated by the ATF alongside the Birmingham Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittney L. Plyler prosecuting.
