A Cuban national, Anoy Lopez-Bles, made his initial court appearance in Las Vegas before United States Magistrate Judge Nancy J. Koppe on Wednesday. He is accused of robbing a bank with a dangerous weapon.

According to the indictment and court statements, Lopez-Bles, aged 50, allegedly used a replica firearm to commit the robbery on February 1, 2025. He has a history of criminal activity, including six prior felony convictions for bank robbery and other offenses such as burglary and drug-related crimes in Nevada. Additionally, he has five misdemeanor convictions for domestic violence, drug offenses, and larceny in Nevada. His record also shows that he failed to appear in court 20 times and violated probation or parole over ten times.

Lopez-Bles faces one count of bank robbery. A jury trial is set for May 19, 2025, before Chief United States District Judge Andrew P. Gordon. If found guilty, he could face up to 20 years in prison. The sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Sue Fahami for the District of Nevada and Special Agent in Charge Spencer L. Evans for the FBI Las Vegas Division.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, while the prosecution is being handled by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada.

It is important to note that an indictment is merely an accusation; Lopez-Bles remains presumed innocent until proven guilty.
