A man from Chautauqua County has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on methamphetamine charges, according to a recent announcement by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo. Darin L. Butts, Jr., aged 31 and residing in Celeron, NY, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Louis A. Testani provided details of the case, noting that investigators conducted seven controlled purchases of methamphetamine and fentanyl from Butts during July and August 2023. On August 23, 2023, search warrants were executed at Butts' home and his two vehicles, resulting in the seizure of approximately 610 grams of methamphetamine—some packaged for individual sale—along with drug paraphernalia and about $14,829 in cash linked to his drug trafficking activities.
Further law enforcement action occurred on May 3, 2024, when another search warrant at Butts' residence led to the discovery of multiple quantities of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl as well as additional drug paraphernalia.
