Kevin P. Davidson, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama
A Coffee County man has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm used in a shooting incident. Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson announced the sentencing of Michael Glenn Saizan, aged 33, on March 18, 2025. Saizan will serve 168 months in prison without the possibility of parole.
Court records indicate that on January 18, 2024, law enforcement responded to a shooting at a residence in Daleville, Alabama. Witnesses reported that an argument between Saizan and another man escalated when Saizan retrieved an AR-style rifle and shot the other man before fleeing. The victim was not fatally injured. Investigators searched Saizan's home in Enterprise, Alabama the following day and found the rifle along with ammunition. As a convicted felon, Saizan is prohibited by federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition. He pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm on December 10, 2024.
The case was prosecuted under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime through collaboration between all levels of law enforcement and communities. The Department of Justice renewed its focus on PSN in 2017 to target violent criminals effectively.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), along with the Daleville Police Department and the Enterprise Police Department, conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Russell T. Duraski prosecuted the case.
