The heads of executive departments and agencies have been directed to revoke security clearances and access to classified information for a list of specified individuals. This directive, issued on March 22, 2025, identifies several prominent figures whose continued access is deemed not in the national interest.
The individuals affected include Antony Blinken, Jacob Sullivan, Lisa Monaco, Mark Zaid, Norman Eisen, Letitia James, Alvin Bragg, Andrew Weissmann, Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Cheney, Kamala Harris, Adam Kinzinger, Fiona Hill, Alexander Vindman, Joseph R. Biden Jr., and members of his family.
"Therefore," the memorandum states, "I hereby direct every executive department and agency head to take all additional action as necessary and consistent with existing law to revoke any active security clearances held by the aforementioned individuals and to immediately rescind their access to classified information."
Furthermore, these individuals are also to lose unescorted access to secure United States Government facilities. The directive encompasses various forms of classified information access such as receiving classified briefings or accessing intelligence community-held data due to past congressional roles.
If any named individual obtained a security clearance through private employment affiliations, the granting government entity must notify the private organization about the revocation of access rights.
"This memorandum is not intended to," it concludes by stating its limitations regarding legal enforceability against U.S. entities or personnel.
