The U.S. Department of Labor has announced a grant of $1,776,938 aimed at supporting employment and training services for individuals affected by layoffs at Daicel Safety Systems America in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. These layoffs occurred in March 2024.

The funding will be managed by the department's Employment and Training Administration through a National Dislocated Worker Grant. This grant will enable Green River Area Development Inc. Workforce Development Board to offer retraining and skills development for displaced workers seeking help in Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union, and Webster counties.

The initiative is supported by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. The National Dislocated Worker Grants provide financial resources to state or local boards for direct services in regions experiencing significant economic disruptions that result in workforce demands surpassing available resources.
