Buffalo man indicted for fentanyl distribution causing death

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that a federal grand jury has indicted Kenneth G. Shoemaker, II, also known as Kenny, of Buffalo, NY. The 50-year-old faces charges including the distribution of fentanyl resulting in death, along with other drug-related offenses and money laundering. If convicted, Shoemaker could face life imprisonment.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Louis A. Testani and Melanie J. Bailey are handling the case. According to the indictment, on September 23, 2023, Shoemaker possessed fentanyl that led to the death of an individual identified as E.I. The document further alleges that between August 28 and October 18, 2024, Shoemaker engaged in selling fentanyl, crack cocaine, and cocaine using a residence on Sweet Avenue in Buffalo for his trafficking operations.

Shoemaker is also accused of conducting structured financial transactions at local banks to conceal proceeds from his drug activities.

The investigation leading to this indictment was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration under Special Agent-in-Charge Frank A. Tarentino III of the New York Field Division; the New York State Police led by Major Amie Feroleto; and the Buffalo Police Department under Commissioner Alphonse Wright.
