Hetzon Marroquin Reyes, the owner of A&M Homes, LLC in Morgantown, West Virginia, has confessed to harboring illegal aliens and interfering with tax processes for financial gain.
Court documents reveal that Reyes, also known as "Hector," aged 40, employed illegal aliens at his construction company. He provided fraudulent driver's licenses and immigration forms to the West Virginia Division of Labor inspectors. Additionally, Reyes used social security numbers not belonging to his employees for tax purposes; some belonged to deceased individuals.
Acting United States Attorney Randolph J. Bernard commented on the case: “We are committed to protecting the integrity of the United States’ immigration system and preventing the exploitation of that system for any purpose, including commercial advantage and private financial gain.” Bernard added that violators like Reyes would face severe penalties.
Reyes could face up to 10 years in federal prison for harboring charges and three years for tax interference. A federal district court judge will determine his sentence after reviewing U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jarod Douglas is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The investigation was conducted by several agencies including the Department of Homeland Security, IRS-Criminal Investigations, and Social Security Administration-Office of Inspector General.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided over this case, which is part of Operation Take Back America—an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and associated crimes using resources from various task forces within the Department of Justice.
