San Joaquin County man sentenced for drug trafficking and firearm offenses

Michele Beckwith Acting U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California

Alphonso Jimenez, a 34-year-old resident of Stockton, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for drug and firearm-related charges. The sentence was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith.

Jimenez faced charges for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl. Additionally, he was charged with possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime. The investigation began in 2021 when local and federal law enforcement collaborated to investigate the drug activities of Jimenez and his co-defendant Erik D. Mendoza-Contreras, also from Stockton.

Court documents reveal that confidential sources purchased narcotics from both men multiple times during the investigation. On February 23, 2022, Jimenez reportedly delivered 28 pounds of methamphetamine to Mendoza for distribution. A subsequent search of Jimenez's residence led to the discovery of significant quantities of drugs: 69.2 pounds of methamphetamine, 62.8 pounds of cocaine, 15 pounds of heroin, counterfeit M-30 pills containing fentanyl totaling nine ounces, around $297,000 in cash, and a firearm.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the San Joaquin County Metropolitan Narcotics Task Force conducted the investigation that led to these findings. Assistant U.S. Attorney Antonio J. Pataca prosecuted the case.

Meanwhile, charges are still pending against Mendoza; he is considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
