An Eddington resident, Thadius Wind, has been arrested and charged with transmitting an interstate threat. The arrest follows a criminal complaint alleging that in 2024, the FBI received information from Meta regarding a Facebook user discussing violence against police and military personnel. Additionally, online tips from the public pointed to threatening statements made on X, formerly known as Twitter.

In November 2024, after further investigation, the FBI executed a search warrant related to the X account. The posts recovered contained threats directed at Jews, political figures, the Supreme Court, and others. These posts were traced back to Thadius Wind.

The case is under investigation by the FBI and Secret Service with support from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

"A complaint is merely an allegation," it was noted in official communications. "All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law."
