Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson has appointed Taylor C. Hoogendoorn as Deputy Director of the Bureau of Competition and Katherine White as Deputy Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection.
Hoogendoorn brings a wealth of litigation experience, having worked on antitrust, tort, contractual, energy, and intellectual property matters. Before joining the FTC, he was in private practice at a Houston law firm. His judicial experience includes clerking for Hon. Samuel A. Alito Jr. at the Supreme Court, Hon. Gregory G. Katsas at the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, and Hon. J. Harvie Wilkinson III at the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Hoogendoorn is an alumnus of Yale Law School where he won the Morris Tyler Moot Court of Appeals and contributed to the Yale Law Journal. He also graduated from Baylor University with a B.B.A., excelling in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, and Business Fellows.
Katherine White has extensive expertise in privacy and consumer protection law from her time in both government service and private practice. She has led complex investigations into privacy issues, data security breaches, and credit reporting.
White's career includes nearly 15 years at the FTC where she held various roles such as Attorney Advisor to former Commissioner Noah Phillips during the first Trump administration and Counsel to the Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection. She also provided advice on consumer protection issues while on detail for the Senate Commerce Committee.
White is a graduate of George Washington University Law School and holds a degree from the University of Virginia.
