A man from Indiana, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for his involvement in narcotics trafficking. This decision was announced by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti. Following his prison term, Barry Baker, 46, will also be subject to four years of supervised release. United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan issued the sentence.
From December 2021 to March 2023, Baker engaged in a conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a significant quantity of narcotics, specifically 500 grams or more of cocaine, 40 grams or more of fentanyl, and crack. The authorities intercepted Baker via a federal wiretap, which revealed his involvement in distributing drugs to a network based in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Arnold P. Bernard, Jr. Acting United States Attorney Rivetti praised several law enforcement agencies for their collaborative efforts in the successful prosecution. The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Laurel Highlands Resident Agency, and Homeland Security Investigations. Other involved agencies included the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and local law enforcement agencies.
This case is part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) initiative, aimed at dismantling high-level drug traffickers and criminal organizations through a coordinated effort by various law enforcement entities.
