Quanisha Ramsuer, a 31-year-old woman from Washington, D.C., has been sentenced to three years in prison for obstructing justice related to the murder investigation of 10-year-old Makiyah Wilson. In addition to the prison sentence, Ramsuer will serve a three-year probation period, as ordered by Superior Court Judge Robert Okun. This was announced by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr., and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Ramsuer was convicted by a Superior Court jury on September 3, 2024, for her involvement in the events surrounding the murder that occurred on July 16, 2018. According to trial evidence, on that date, five members of the Wellington Park crew, including Mark Price, Antonio Murchison, Isaiah Murchison, Gregory Taylor, and Qujuan Thomas, drove to the Clay Terrace neighborhood and opened fire, shooting more than 50 bullets. Makiyah Wilson, who was sitting outdoors, was killed in the attack. Other individuals associated with the crew, Quentin Michals and Darrise Jeffers, were also convicted for assisting in the shooting, while Marquell Cobbs was convicted of conspiracy.
Ramsuer, who was present during the preparations for the shooting and was caught on video interacting with the defendants, refused to truthfully testify about their identities, despite her apparent familiarity with them. Her refusal led to her obstruction of justice charge.
The investigation was conducted by the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Laura Bach and Natalie Hynum, with support from other legal and technical staff, including Chrisellen Kolb, Nicholas Coleman, and others. Former Assistant U.S. Attorneys Rich Barker, John Timmer, and Melissa Jackson also played significant roles in the investigation.
