A 33-year-old Mexican national, Francisco Raymundo Dominguez-Sanchez, has pleaded guilty to illegally reentering the United States, as announced by U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei. This case marks his third conviction for the same offense.
Dominguez-Sanchez was first deported from the U.S. in 2013 and has since faced eight subsequent removals, the most recent occurring in 2023. On January 28, while driving northbound near Falfurrias, Dominguez-Sanchez was stopped during a routine immigration inspection at a Border Patrol checkpoint. Authorities identified him as an undocumented immigrant with a prior order for removal.
U.S. District Judge David Morales is scheduled to sentence Dominguez-Sanchez on June 25. He could receive up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000. Until the hearing, Dominguez-Sanchez remains in custody.
The investigation was led by Border Patrol, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley Martin prosecuting the case.
