Jason T. Scruggs, a 42-year-old resident of Clinton, Michigan, has been sentenced to 108 months in prison for his involvement in the distribution of methamphetamine. Known as "Rock" or "Roc," Scruggs was a significant figure in a drug trafficking ring that transported large amounts of controlled substances from Detroit to Clarksburg, West Virginia.
According to information presented in court, during one transport, a traffic stop led to the confiscation of 443 grams of methamphetamine and over 50 grams of fentanyl. Additionally, Scruggs recruited others to take part in the drug distribution activities. His previous convictions include firearms offenses, domestic violence, retail fraud, assault with a dangerous weapon, and breaking and entering.
Post-incarceration, Scruggs is subject to three years of supervised release.
The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christie Utt. The investigation was carried out by the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, funded by HIDTA, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office.
Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the proceedings.
