U.S. District Judge Matthew J. Maddox has sentenced Robert Jackson to 54 months in prison for possession of a firearm and ammunition as a prohibited person. Jackson, a 39-year-old resident of Baltimore, Maryland, will also undergo three years of supervised release following his prison term.

The judgment was announced by U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes for the District of Maryland, alongside Toni M. Crosby, Special Agent in Charge at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Hayes recognized the efforts of the ATF and the Baltimore City Police Department (BPD) in the investigation.

The charges stemmed from an incident on January 26, 2024. A detective employed with the BPD, while monitoring a Citi Watch Camera, saw a gun transfer between Jackson and his co-defendant, Derek Harvey, on Milton Avenue. The detective noted Jackson reaching into his hoodie, extracting a tan handgun, and passing it to Harvey, who tucked the weapon into his waistband.

Following the observation, BPD detectives apprehended Jackson and Harvey, confiscating the firearm and ammunition. Both were legally barred from having such items due to prior convictions.

Harvey, having pled guilty, awaits sentencing scheduled for May 8, 2025.

This case is connected to the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative. Launched by the Department on May 26, 2021, this program aims to unite law enforcement with communities to lessen violent crime and gun violence. PSN's strategy involves building trust in communities, backing organizations that preclude violence, prioritizing enforcement efforts, and assessing results.

Special thanks were extended to Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Kertisha Dixon for prosecuting the case.
