U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport (DFW) recently seized 2.69 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a piece of checked luggage. A United States citizen was taken into custody and later transferred to the DFW Department of Public Safety for further processing.

The discovery was made when CBP officers inspected the luggage and found packages containing a white powdery substance hidden in the bag's lining.

Raul Orona, acting Area Port Director of CBP, stated, "Our CBP officers work every day to keep our borders safe and secure. CBP is committed to combating drug trafficking at every level and we will continue to relentlessly pursue criminal networks and individuals who contribute to the scourge of drug abuse and addiction."

On average, CBP officers and agents seize 2,895 pounds of dangerous drugs daily at various points of entry, including air, sea, and land ports. The agency's border security mission is led by CBP officers and agriculture specialists from the Office of Field Operations. They screen international travelers and cargo, intercepting illicit narcotics, unreported currency, weapons, counterfeit consumer goods, invasive species, and other prohibited items that threaten the public, businesses, and the nation's safety and economy.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is recognized as the nation's primary law enforcement organization and a pioneering border management agency globally. With over 65,000 officers, CBP is tasked with protecting the U.S. across all terrains—land, air, and sea. The agency prioritizes safe and lawful travel and trade, contributing to national economic prosperity while bolstering security through innovation and collaboration.
