Norman Wesley Parker, a Minneapolis resident, has admitted guilt to illegal possession of firearms as a felon. Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick announced the plea.
Court documents reveal that on March 10, 2023, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department tried to intercept a vehicle with Parker, 37, as a passenger. The vehicle's driver attempted to evade authorities and crashed. At the crash site, Parker was found with a loaded .40 caliber Smith and Wesson SD40VE semi-automatic pistol.
Parker has a history of felony convictions, including domestic assault, aggravated robbery, and offenses related to substances and firearms. Federal law prohibits him from owning firearms or ammunition.
The plea agreement also involves Parker admitting to having a Keltec Model PMR-30 .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol and a Glock 21 .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol in 2024.
Parker entered his guilty plea in U.S. District Court to one count of unlawful firearm possession as a felon before Judge Michael J. Davis. The sentencing date will be determined later.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in conjunction with the Minneapolis Police Department. Prosecutor for the case is Assistant U.S. Attorney David P. Steinkamp.
