Blockchain Association has announced that Kristin Smith will resign from her position as CEO, effective May 16, 2025. The organization's Board of Directors is currently searching for a new leader.
Smith has been with the Blockchain Association since its inception. She was initially appointed by the board in the fall of 2018, establishing the association and coordinating its launch. Over her tenure of six and a half years, the association grew significantly, gaining over 125 member organizations and expanding its staff to 17 full-time employees.
Smith is credited with guiding the association through a period of significant growth and influence. The association has successfully advocated for blockchain technology policies, defended against regulations, and fostered a strong community of industry innovators.
"Kristin’s leadership has been instrumental in transforming Blockchain Association into the powerhouse it is today," stated Marta Belcher, President of the Blockchain Association Board of Directors. "Her passion for the industry and her ability to bridge the gap between technology and policy have left an indelible mark on our organization and the broader blockchain ecosystem. We are deeply grateful for her contributions and wish her the best in her next chapter."
The Blockchain Association will continue its operations with its current team of policy experts, advocates, and industry veterans while the search for Smith's successor takes place. The board aims to find a successor who can continue building on the organization's successes.
Expressing her sentiments, Smith said, "It has been an honor to serve as CEO of Blockchain Association and work alongside such a dedicated team and community. I am incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together and confident that the organization’s future is bright. I look forward to seeing my team, our members, and the industry continue to thrive under new leadership."
Kristin Smith will assume a new role as President of the Solana Policy Institute on May 19.
