A federal grand jury seated in the Western District of Wisconsin has returned an indictment in Madison. The case involves Rumont Kirkpatrick, a 47-year-old from Madison, Wisconsin, who is charged with distributing methamphetamine.
According to the indictment, Kirkpatrick allegedly distributed 500 grams or more of methamphetamine on January 9, 2024. If found guilty, Kirkpatrick faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and could receive up to a life sentence in prison.
The investigation leading to the charge against Kirkpatrick was a collaborative effort involving the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation, and the United States Postal Inspection Service. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Chad Elgersma and Louis Glinzak.
"You are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and a person named as defendant in an indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty."
