U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has reinstated an agreement with the Glades County Board of County Commissioners to use Glades County Jail in Moore Haven, Florida, as a detention center for ICE detainees. This move will add up to 500 additional beds and serves as a federal immigration processing and detention point.

Acting Miami ICE Field Office Director Juan Agudelo stated, "The Glades County Jail center will serve as a staging area and allow greater capacity to address our immigration enforcement mission." He also noted that its central location "streamlines logistics and helps facilitate the timely processing of illegal aliens in our custody that are subject to arrest, detention and removal from our country."

This expansion of ICE's detention facilities in Florida is aimed at better managing the agency's enforcement and removal operations in the region.
