Harrisburg man sentenced for firearm possession as a convicted felon

Ajear Anthony Miller-Carter, a 24-year-old resident of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 46 months in prison for possessing a firearm unlawfully. The decision was rendered by United States District Judge Jennifer P. Wilson.

Miller-Carter had entered a guilty plea on September 24, 2024, to charges of possessing a firearm as a prohibited person. The events leading to Miller-Carter's arrest occurred on August 30, 2021, when police conducted a traffic stop in Union County. As reported by Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, officers discovered marijuana, a digital scale, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded Taurus PT111G2 9MM pistol with an extended magazine inside the vehicle. Following the discovery of an active warrant for his arrest, Miller-Carter, a convicted felon, was apprehended by the police. He later acknowledged ownership of the firearm, which was also found to be stolen.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Harrisburg Police Bureau conducted the investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian Haugsby.

This legal proceeding fell under the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program, a joint effort of federal, state, and local authorities aimed at curbing violent crime. The initiative focuses on targeted enforcement against high-level offenders while working with community-based programs to sustainably reduce crime rates.
