An Ohio woman has been sentenced to a federal prison term of 98 months for drug trafficking and weapon charges. Betty Ann Rosenbeck, aged 42, from Huber Heights, Ohio, admitted her guilt to charges involving the possession and intended distribution of over 50 grams of methamphetamine, as well as possession of a firearm tied to drug trafficking activities.
Court records detail events beginning on July 17, 2023, when law enforcement in Bristol, Virginia, conducted a traffic stop on Rosenbeck's vehicle. During the operation, a K9 unit identified narcotics, leading officers to confiscate digital scales, plastic baggies, and a firearm magazine.
The case further unraveled with a controlled methamphetamine purchase for $350 on July 27, 2023, at a location in Bristol. Subsequent investigations revealed Rosenbeck's plans to transport meth from a supplier in Dayton, Ohio, back to Virginia. Armed with federal search warrants, authorities intercepted Rosenbeck's vehicle on August 12, 2023, in Abingdon, Virginia. A search led to the discovery of 441.8 grams of methamphetamine with a purity of 84%, stashed in four bags within Rosenbeck’s garments, alongside a loaded 9 mm handgun.
Zachary T. Lee, Acting United States Attorney, and Ibrar A. Mian, DEA Washington Division's Special Agent in Charge, announced the sentencing.
The investigation was a combined effort of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Virginia State Police, Holston River Drug Task Force, and the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Lena Busscher.
