Eric C. Jackson, a 33-year-old resident of San Diego, California, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his involvement in a drug-trafficking operation that distributed methamphetamine in Onondaga County and other parts of Central New York.
This announcement was made by United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and Frank A. Tarentino III, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), New York Division.
Jackson, who had previously pleaded guilty, admitted his participation in the conspiracy, which took place from June 2020 through April 2021. He acknowledged conspiring with others to distribute methamphetamine that was transported from California to Central New York. Jackson facilitated travel arrangements for his associates between California and New York and personally transported narcotics proceeds. Specifically, he carried tens of thousands of dollars from Syracuse to San Diego on flights.
In addition to his prison sentence, United States Senior District Judge David N. Hurd ordered Jackson to serve a 5-year supervised release following his incarceration.
The investigation involved contributions from several agencies: the DEA, U.S. Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI), New York State Police-Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (NYSP-VGNET), Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office, Syracuse Police Department, Oklahoma City Police Department, and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew J. McCrobie.
