Former U.S. President Donald J. Trump recently shared several posts on Truth Social, where he commented on international relations, economic policy, and domestic financial conditions.
On April 4, 2025, Trump described a "very productive call" with To Lam, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The discussion included Vietnam's interest in reducing tariffs to zero, contingent upon reaching an agreement with the United States. Trump stated, "Just had a very productive call with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who told me that Vietnam wants to cut their Tariffs down to ZERO if they are able to make an agreement with the U.S. I thanked him on behalf of our Country, and said I look forward".
Later that day, Trump recommended that Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell consider reducing interest rates. Citing various economic indicators, Trump remarked, "This would be a PERFECT time for Fed Chairman Jerome Powell to cut Interest Rates. He is always “late,” but he could now change his image, and quickly. Energy prices are down, Interest Rates are down, Inflation is down, even Eggs are down 69%, and Jobs are UP, all within two".
In a subsequent post from April 4, 2025, Trump linked to a previous statement or post without adding new commentary, stating "Donald Trump Truth Social 04/04/25 12:04 PM https://t.co/HhVzTQLLbI".
