Robert J. "Bob" Troester U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma
Dangelo Maurice Windham, 26, from Oklahoma City, has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison on charges related to illegal firearm possession and drug trafficking. U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester announced the sentence, which stems from two incidents in 2023 involving law enforcement.
An indictment returned on May 21, 2024, charged Windham with multiple offenses, including possession of cocaine base with the intent to distribute, two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. These charges arose from encounters with local police throughout 2023.
On March 8, 2023, an Oklahoma City Police Department officer attempted to stop Windham for a traffic violation. Windham fled, abandoning his vehicle and a backpack containing a firearm. Officers later found distribution amounts of crack cocaine in his vehicle. A subsequent traffic stop on December 23, 2023, led to the discovery of another firearm in his possession.
Windham pleaded guilty on October 7, 2024, admitting to possessing a firearm during a drug-trafficking crime and to being a felon in possession of a firearm. On March 25, 2025, U.S. District Judge Patrick R. Wyrick sentenced him to serve 84 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
The sentence takes into account Windham's criminal history, his disregard for the law, and repeated firearm possession despite prior felony convictions. He was previously convicted in Oklahoma County for attempted third-degree burglary.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Oklahoma City Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Danielle M. Connolly leading the prosecution.
