A U.S. Department of Labor investigation revealed that improperly stored hazardous chemicals were responsible for a fire at the Bio-Lab Inc. facility in Conyers. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) examined the incident, determining the fire started in a warehouse containing several chemicals.
As a result of their findings, OSHA issued Bio-Lab citations for four serious violations and two other-than-serious violations. The proposed penalties amount to $61,473.
Bio-Lab has a period of 15 business days from receiving the citations and penalties to either comply, request an informal meeting with OSHA’s area director, or contest the citations before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
