U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recently deported Josseth Santos-Fonseca, a 30-year-old Costa Rican national, back to Costa Rica. He is wanted by Costa Rican law enforcement for drug trafficking.

Santos-Fonseca entered the United States near Laredo, Texas, without inspection by an immigration official. He was apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol on November 8, 2018. During the immigration proceedings, ICE was informed by Costa Rican authorities about his drug smuggling conviction. An immigration judge subsequently ordered his removal, and ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Seattle carried out the deportation to Costa Rica smoothly.

Cammilla H. Wamsley, Interim Field Office Director of ERO Seattle, emphasized the importance of collaboration with international partners, stating, “ERO Seattle continues to work with our international partners to ensure criminal aliens are unable to find refuge in the U.S. from justice in their home country. Drug trafficking is a serious offense, and the risk it presents will always be a motivator for our officers to locate and arrest those wanted in their country of origin.”

The public is encouraged to share information about foreign fugitives with ICE by calling the ICE Tip Line at 1 (866) 347-2423 or internationally at 001-1802-872-6199. Tips can also be submitted online through ICE’s tip form.

ICE continues its mission to enhance public safety and keeps the public informed via its ERO Seattle account on X at @EROSeattle.
