Dothan man receives five-year sentence for extensive wire fraud scheme

Sean P. Costello U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama

A man from Dothan has been sentenced to five years in prison for his involvement in a wire fraud scheme that defrauded food distribution companies out of more than $750,000. Randy Pressley, 45, faced six counts of wire fraud and two counts of interstate transportation of stolen goods.

Court documents reveal Pressley used stolen identification to create customer accounts with food distributors, ordered food, and then resold it in Mississippi. When the invoices came due, the individuals whose identities were stolen disputed the charges, resulting in losses for the distribution companies. Following his 60-month prison term, Pressley will be under supervised release for three years and is required to pay restitution and forfeit his criminal proceeds.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Sean Costello of the Southern District of Alabama. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Hattiesburg Police Department, Chatom Police Department, and Jackson Police Department. The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Tandice Blackwood.
