Nader Ngoopos, known as 'Nike', has been sentenced to a decade in prison in connection with multiple drug and gun charges. U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. delivered the sentence following Ngoopos's conviction for conspiring to distribute significant amounts of cocaine and heroin, illegal possession of a firearm, and related offenses.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Evan K. Glaberson detailed that Ngoopos, age 26 and a Buffalo resident, was active in a drug distribution operation between 2016 and 2018. This operation involved obtaining drugs locally and transporting them to Olean, NY, where he personally sold cocaine and heroin from multiple sites. Ngoopos also had co-conspirators who regularly engaged in selling these substances.
In a separate incident on October 15, 2018, Ngoopos was involved in an armed robbery at St. Bonaventure University. Accompanied by two others, he entered a dormitory, held students at gunpoint while seeking drugs and money, and ultimately stole marijuana and cash.
A later encounter on September 2, 2021, with law enforcement highlighted further criminal activity. Ngoopos led police on a high-speed chase in Buffalo before fleeing on foot, during which he discarded a pistol. At this time, he was already a convicted felon, rendering his firearm possession illegal since June 2020 after a conviction in Cattaraugus County Court.
The case was investigated by multiple law enforcement agencies, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with special agent-in-charge Matthew Miraglia, and supported by the Olean, Buffalo, and Erie County police departments, and the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office.
