Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau recently had a conversation with El Salvador's Foreign Minister, Alexandra Hill. The discussion centered on the ongoing cooperation between the two nations regarding illegal immigration and regional security issues. According to Spokesperson Tammy Bruce, "Deputy Secretary Landau expressed gratitude for El Salvador’s acceptance of over 240 members of Tren de Aragua and MS-13 removed from the United States."
The dialogue also highlighted the collaborative efforts to prevent illegal aliens, criminals, terrorists, and illicit drugs from entering the United States. Emphasizing the need for cooperation in technology and security, Deputy Secretary Landau highlighted the importance of collaborations on 5G, cybersecurity, and AI. He mentioned the necessity of limiting China's access to El Salvador's critical infrastructure, emphasizing the use of trusted vendors.
Additionally, Deputy Secretary Landau "recognized El Salvador’s important role in our region," noting the country's contributions like providing medevac capability to the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti and the Salvadoran Navy's collaboration in countering illicit narcotics trafficking.
