A New Haven man, Zaquawn Arrington, also known as "Dreads," was sentenced to 14 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden. The sentencing includes an additional three years of supervised release. Arrington was found guilty of distributing fentanyl and crack cocaine, as well as violating the conditions of his federal supervised release linked to a prior conviction.
Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, Marc H. Silverman, made the announcement following the sentencing. Court documents reveal that Arrington commenced a three-year supervised release term in April 2022, following a conviction for crack cocaine distribution. Between October and December 2022, controlled purchases of fentanyl and crack cocaine were executed by investigators from Arrington and his associates.
Arrington's arrest occurred on February 17, 2023. He pleaded guilty on March 20, 2024, to charges including possession with intent to distribute and distribution of controlled substances. His bond was revoked on January 2, 2025, resulting in his detention since then.
The investigation involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s New Haven Safe Streets/Gang Task Force and the New Haven Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John T. Pierpont, Jr.
