Dartanyan Ricardo Hawkins, a 30-year-old resident of Washington D.C., received a 60-month federal prison sentence due to his involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy. The operation distributed significant amounts of marijuana across the District of Columbia, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr., FBI Special Agent Sean Ryan, ATF Special Agent in Charge Anthony Spotswood, and Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith.
Hawkins, also known as “Shitty,” was associated with the Push Dat Shit (PDS) and Jugg Gang (JG) street gangs. On November 1, 2024, he pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson to the charge of possession with intent to distribute over 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of marijuana. Hawkins also admitted to using Instagram for the distribution of marijuana and possessing a firearm in conjunction with the offense. Judge Berman Jackson also sentenced Hawkins to four years of supervised release.
Court documents reveal that the PDS gang controlled territory in the 3300 – 3500 blocks of Wheeler Road, Southeast, where they operated an open-air drug market. In August 2018, PDS collaborated with the Jugg Gang, to which Hawkins belonged. The combined gangs conspired to use firearms, including machine guns, to protect their operations against rival groups.
This sentence comes as part of a larger investigation that has led to 27 convictions, and the seizure of multiple weapons, vehicles, and quantities of drugs, as well as substantial cash amounts. The joint investigation was conducted by the FBI Washington Field Office, the ATF Washington Field Division, and the Metropolitan Police Department, with the case being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney James B. Nelson.
