Aliakbar Mohammad Amin has been arrested in Atlanta and charged with transmitting interstate threats directed at Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and her family. This incident, detailed in a criminal complaint, includes threatening messages sent between March 29 and April 1, 2025. Acting U.S. Attorney Richard S. Moultrie, Jr., commented, "Threatening to harm public officials is a criminal act that cannot be excused as political discourse."
Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Atlanta, Paul Brown, highlighted the seriousness of these offenses, stating, "The FBI sees all threatening communications as a serious federal offense." Federal agents uncovered threatening text messages and social media posts allegedly made by Amin. These posts included images of a firearm aimed at photographs of Gabbard and her husband. A firearm was subsequently recovered during a search of Amin's home.
Amin, 24, from Lilburn, Georgia, was charged on April 11 via a previously sealed criminal complaint, violating Title 18, United States Code, Section 875(c). Following his initial appearance in federal court, he was ordered detained pending trial by a U.S. Magistrate Judge.
This case is under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is part of Operation Take Back America. This initiative aims to combat illegal immigration, eliminate cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime. Operation Take Back America uses resources from the Department of Justice's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
