Kenvir man sentenced to 78 months for meth trafficking

A Kenvir resident, Anthony Carr, aged 54, has been sentenced to 78 months in prison for distributing methamphetamine. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Robert Wier.

Carr's plea agreement states that on August 17, 2023, he sold approximately 54 grams of a methamphetamine mixture to a confidential informant. Law enforcement officials conducted a search of Carr's home on August 23, 2023, discovering around 27 grams of methamphetamine, multiple baggies, and three digital scales.

According to federal law, Carr is required to serve 85 percent of his prison sentence. After his release, he will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for four years.

The sentencing was announced by Paul McCaffrey, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, along with Jim Scott, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Louisville Field Division, Phillip J. Burnett, Jr., Commissioner of the Kentucky State Police, and Sheriff Chris Brewer of the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the DEA, Kentucky State Police, and the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Blankenship is representing the United States in this case.
