A coordinated effort among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies has led to the confiscation of two kilograms of cocaine and the arrest of a Providence resident, Eluid Rosa-Escudero, 35. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.
Rosa-Escudero faces a federal charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. Court documents detail a three-month investigation that concluded on April 10, 2025. During the investigation, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Rosa-Escudero’s home, resulting in the seizure of cocaine, $10,000 cash, and other narcotics trafficking-related materials.
The investigation involved surveillance of a package delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. The package was collected by someone who later met Rosa-Escudero at a gas station. Following their meeting, the vehicles drove away, and law enforcement maintained surveillance. Police stopped the individual who retrieved the package, identifying him as a 15-year-old.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christine D. Lowell is prosecuting the case, with additional assistance from Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise M. Barton. The investigation is conducted by the United States Postal Inspection Service Contraband Interdiction and Investigations Task Force, supported by the Providence, Pawtucket Police Departments, and the Rhode Island State Police.
A federal criminal complaint is an accusation, meaning the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative of the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime.
