A Buffalo man, Lamor Runell Bolden, recently entered a guilty plea for conspiracy to commit mail theft, as announced by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo. The case was brought before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. The charges carry a potential sentence of up to five years in prison, accompanied by a fine that could reach $250,000.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Franz M. Wright clarified the events, recounting that on October 2, 2024, Bolden collaborated with Eric Michael Robinson and Antonio Jones, Jr. to steal mail from receptacles located in Cheektowaga, New York. The group was also in possession of a key meant for authorized mail receptacles. Bolden, along with Robinson and Jones, drove to a mail facility in Cheektowaga early in the morning, with Robinson handling the driving while Bolden and Jones were passengers. Upon parking behind a series of blue collection mailboxes, Jones used a stolen key to access and steal mail, while Bolden kept watch.
Shortly thereafter, law enforcement intercepted their vehicle, discovering various pieces of mail, both opened and unopened, inside. Bolden admitted their actions included using the stolen key to pilfer mail from other locations within the Western District of New York.
While charges are still pending against Antonio Jones, Jr., Eric Michael Robinson, previously convicted, is currently awaiting sentencing.
This plea followed an investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service under Special Agent-in-Charge Ketty Larco-Ward's leadership and the Cheektowaga Police Department, directed by Chief Brian Coons.
The sentencing for Bolden is planned for August 13, 2025, before Judge Sinatra.
